A construction worker was killed Tuesday when a delivery truck struck a cherry picker he was on and sent him flying 50 feet to the pavement below, police said.
The worker landed face down in front of the Astoria Diner on Steinway St. in Queens in front of dozens of horrified people.
Two other workers held on for dear life and escaped injury.
The worker, who wasn’t identified Tuesday night, was pronounced dead at Elmhurst Hospital.
The accident occurred shortly after 5 p.m. when the delivery truck heading south on Steinway clipped the cherry picker and started it swinging back and forth, police said.
The two men who survived were in safety harnesses, but witnesses said the victim wasn’t wearing a hardhat.
